Our Brief:
We were appointed in June 2006 by this 5-star hotel in one of Europe’s most exclusive Alpine resorts. Our brief was to encourage people to visit Gstaad, best known for its winter sports, during the summer months.
Tactics:
- Devising a media strategy tailored to reach specific audiences (including golfers, honeymooners, CIT market).
- Compiling creative and attractive press materials targeting these audiences and tying in with packages offered by the hotel and the events / activity calendar in Gstaad.
- Planning a series of individual and group press trips with carefully selected journalists to demonstrate the luxurious facilities of the hotel and the variety of outdoor activities available locally.
- Reducing the cost of press visits to the client by cooperating with the local tourist board, local businesses and SWISS International.
Some Results:
- Over a period of 2.5 years Quatro organised individual or group press trips to Gstaad for 36 journalists.
- Over 80 pieces of high-quality press coverage were achieved, many of them double page spreads or more, with an estimated audience reach of 38 million people.
- 98% of all coverage was positive, with 80% adhering to previously defined PR messages.
- Within two years of our appointment, the number of UK visitors to the hotel more than doubled, with an average length of stay of 3.5 nights.
